DUBAI: Palestinian Chilean singer Elyanna is collaborating with the World Food Programme to raise awareness about the organization’s fundraising efforts for Gaza.

The singer took to social media to encourage fans to donate to the organization, saying: “Grateful to be collaborating with the amazing team at @wfpusa @worldfoodprogramme to support families in Gaza. Your donation big or small can change lives and inspire many.”

DUBAI: British rockstar Dominic Harrison, known by his stage name Yungblud, promised to return to the UAE during his regional debut at the Untold music festival in Dubai on Friday.

Performing hits from his latest album “Idols” Yungblud delivered a stellar performance including hits such as “Lovesick Lullaby,” “Funeral” and more.

The artist said he was “bringing rock and roll to the UAE” saying that pop, techno and rap were the predominant genres of music at festivals here.

DUBAI: German filmmaker Edward Berger’s 2022 take on “All Quiet on the Western Front” was a masterpiece, and his English-language debut, last year’s “Conclave,” was a nuanced, smart political thriller. There’s no doubting his talent.

However, “Ballad of a Small Player” is not on that level. While it’s a visual delight, reminiscent of Wes Anderson’s vividly realized worlds. But the unusual stylistic choices often seem forced — art for art’s sake. It’s not helped by Rowan Joffé’s screenplay, which fails to build on initial intrigue and ends up feeling thrown together.

DUBAI: In the latest installment of the “Predator” franchise, director Dan Trachtenberg is breaking uncharted territory by challenging the boundaries of traditional genre constraints, according to stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi.

“Predator: Badlands,” set further into the future than any previous entry in the “Predator” universe, introduces two complex characters who defy expectations. Fanning plays Thia, a Weyland-Yutanisynthetic android, and describes her character as a revolutionary departure from previous portrayals of humanoid machines.

DUBAI: American actor David Corenswet, best known for his portrayal of the title role in James Gunn’s “Superman,” is the latest Hollywood star to sign the “Film Workers for Palestine” pledge, joining a growing list of Hollywood figures expressing solidarity with Palestinians.

The pledge, launched on Sept. 8, calls on members of the entertainment industry to avoid collaborating with Israeli film institutions allegedly linked to “genocide and apartheid.”

Among the signatories are Mark Ruffalo, Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Tilda Swinton, Riz Ahmed, and Javier Bardem.

LONDON: Pro-Palestine protesters in the UK who allegedly disrupted the production of a Gal Gadot movie have been ordered by a court to avoid film-shooting locations, The Times reported on Thursday.

The eight demonstrators were charged under trade union laws over their alleged disruption of “The Runner,” which features the Israeli actress, who served in the Israel Defense Forces.

At locations in London and outside the capital, protesters allegedly disrupted shooting over several days in May.

LONDON: Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has said in a British newspaper interview he would not now perform in Israel, eight years after the band defied pro-Palestinian activists to play a Tel Aviv gig. “Absolutely not. I wouldn’t want to be 5,000 miles anywhere near the Netanyahu regime,” he told The Sunday Times Magazine, referring to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

The interview with members of the British band — whose UK No. 1 albums include “OK Computer” and “Kid A” — took place before this month’s ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

DUBAI: British Lebanese actress Razane Jammal stars in 2026 film “Asad Al-Osoud,” and she took to social media this week to share the first trailer for the film.

Directed by Egyptian filmmaker and Marvel’s “Moon Knight” director Mohamed Diab, Jammal stars alongside Egyptian star Mohamed Ramadan in the period drama.

Jammal, famous for her roles in Netflix series “The Sandman” and “Paranormal,” is joined by Maged El-Kedwany, Khaled El-Sawy, Sherif Salama and Ahmed Abdelhamid in the upcoming film.
